As the month of July edges closer to August our new home gets closer to completion. Haven't been able to see the inside of our apartment since it's on the ninth floor and the elevators are not installed yet and I'm not going to climb up 9 floors, so we look at our balcony from the street. This gave me an idea for a painting . This was one of the times that I got an idea
for a painting instead of just starting and see where it takes me. I
call it "First Light". (from our balcony to be)

Up late

Here is one of Pablo Picasso's quotes that I like.
I feel the same way and my painting my not make sense to others but I really enjoy the freedom that Abstract painting gives me. It's shape, color, balance, the feeling one gets from looking at nature in the wild.

Saturday
I just can't get over Saturday's as being the day for house things. Now that I'm retired all the days are the same, except Sunday. And if you go to church on Sunday it is another day. But, we are so locked into a way of living that it's hard to change the cycle. Though I create paintings any day of the week that I want. The one I'm showing today I finished yesterday, what ever day that was. I called it "Hunger".

Color in the calendar
A few months ago I featured the Mayan Calendar. Then the other day I thought it would be nice to add color to this very old carved stone. Who knows maybe it was in color when it was new.
The most interesting part of the object is the fact that it has foretold the end of time to come in 2012. Well so far all is well. But, the Mayans were very serious about their study of the stars and the moon, so we will just wait for December 31, 2012 and ringing in of a new year 2013. Time will tell. People have proclaimed the end of t;he earth over and over and the earth is still whirling around the sun. It's a vast universe out there and planets have come gone. The universe is a very violent place but because of the size is so vast we never notice the death of a star and planets that orbited. The gods keep throwing rocks at us and maybe one day one rock will get through and BANG.

Geometriclly Sound
There is a lot of geometric forms in this painting thus the title of this painting.
The sound could be the flow coming forth from the blue rectangle opening.
I guess you have to hear with your eyes in this case. A loud sound like a jet plane makes at take off. The rest of the piece is rather organic. There is tension between organic and rectangular aspects which holds it all together.
The size of the Digital painting is 18inHigh x 24inWide. The resolution is at 300bpi

Picasso was right and I have been working, so I will post a few of my latest digital paintings.
With the digital program I use I can paint as though I were painting with my airbrush, or regular brushes, on canvas. From the digital file I can output the painting on canvas. The wonders of the electronic age. The only thing I can't do with digital painting is dropping paint on my shoes.
